James Laffey (Faculty)

Course(s) Teaching:

Dr. Laffey is an Associate Professor in the School of Information Science and Learning Technologies at the University of Missouri-Columbia (MU). Dr. Laffey earned his Ph.D. from the University of Chicago in 1981. Before coming to MU he worked for six years at Apple Computer, Inc. conducting research and development for learning and support systems. While working at Apple he was responsible for developing award winning interactive learning systems, and designing innovative performance support systems. Since coming to MU in 1993 Dr. Laffey has been the author for grants totaling $4.5 million dollars to MU and been a collaborator on grants of an additional $2.5 million dollars.

Christiana Kumalasari (Mentor)

Course(s) Teaching: Introduction to Web Development

Christiana Kumalasari received her M.D from Trisakti University Medical School-Jakarta, Indonesia. She is very experienced in working with interactive multimedia and web development. Currently, she is a Doctoral Student in the School of Information Science & Learning Technologies. Her research interests includes case-based learning, especially in health environments.

Kyungbin Kwon (Mentor)

Course(s) Teaching:

Kyungbin Kwon received his Master degree from Seoul National University in Seoul, Korea. Now, he is a Doctoral Student in the School of Information Science and Learning Technologies. His research interest is peer collaboration in online learning environment and writing by reviewing with peer commenting. His technical background includes CSS, Javascript, ASP.net2.0 and other image editing tools.

Pei-Ju Liu (Mentor)

Course(s) Teaching: Intermediate Web Development

Pei-Ju Liu is originally from Taiwan. She is currently working on her doctoral degree (4th year) in the School of Information Science and Learning Technologies (SISLT) at MU. She has worked with web design and development ever since she got the master degree in Network Learning Systems from SISLT about four years ago. She is familiar with html, CSS, JavaScript, Perl, and CGI. She also works at digital media design by using tools like Photoshop, Flash, iMoive, Audacity, etc.

Tawnya Means (Mentor)

Course(s) Teaching:

Tawnya Means received her Master's degree in Educational Technology (with an emphasis in Network Learning Systems) from SISLT in 2003 and is currently a Ph.D. student in the Information Science and Learning Technologies program. She is experienced in web design, databases, case-based reasoning, and information systems.

I-Chun Tsai (Mentor)

Course(s) Teaching:

I-Chun Tsai who is originally from Taiwan is a doctoral student in the School of Information Science and Learning Technologies (SISLT) at MU. She has worked as a Zone mentor since 2005 and has experience with html, CSS, JavaScript, MySQL, and multimedia software (i.e. PhotoImpace, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Flash, iMovie, Audacity, etc.). Her research interests include case-based learning, social awareness of online learning, and social interaction and participation patterns in online learning communities.
